Wondering if anyone has used a buff with built in insect repellant. Looks like I will be going up to the Bristol Bay area in early July, late June to help my sister and her husband with netting salmon in one the rivers there. Both of them talked about the beauty of the area, the excitement of the salmon run but also talked about how buggy it is. Have seen the buffs with built in repellant advertised and thought that might be the ticket for working in a skiff in direct sun, while also helping keep the bugs off. Thanks

Thanks. I am seeing this as a one time use, season only lasts about 10 days. Would just rinse in the river, since we would be staying in a "rustic" cabin without laundry facilities. They claim up to 70 washings but all are careful to use phrase 'up to'.

Sounds like a no brainer. Doubt you will regret trying it, but might regret not.

That is what I decided. At worst I will have protection from the sun, at best protection from bugs and sun. When I asked what kinds of bugs, my sister and her husband just laughed and said, "all kinds and lots of them". Being on the river, you not only have over head sun but reflection from the water. Got a fair amount of sun damage already, had little chunks frozen off, so try and be careful.
