I just spooled up my large quantum reel I had for bass with whiplash, and my rod is a 6'6" two peice medium action ugly stik. I know that it could bring in a muskie, because its really strong, but its too flexible. Does anyone know of a good spinning rod for muskies? I need something not too expensive (for instance, not a st croix)under $50 Would an 8 foot catfish rod be good?

Ugly Stix do have what you are looking for if you look around a bit for them. Check out the salt water versions - they are very tough and have stainless steel guides. I saw a Shakespeare rep. pick up a cinderblock with one at a sports show. There are hard to find in the shops so I would look in Cabelas or Bass Pro catalogs or go online. Shakespeare also has "Tiger Rods" which are also very tough and affordable. Check out the catalog section on my website - I have those sites listed.

You also might want to check out Shimano & Falcon rods. They are about $20 less than a St. Croix and are a lot lighter than the Ugly Stix.
