The kids are a little older and a bit more self sufficient so I've started in the basement again. Took a few years off but I feel the addiction coming on again.I LOVE tinkering and coming up with new baits to wash. Some are original and some are copies. My newest creation is the Rubber Ducky.A knockoff but it's MY knockoff. They will catch fish. How many guys/gals out there are also basement bandits? When I was in the fishing biz that was a term of endearment for the guys making their own stuff to sell locally. What's the biggest fish you've caught on something you've made?Too much fun!!! I have caught lots of big girls on baits I made, including the original Creature bodies, and my beloved Turd, a copy of a Heddon Vamp Flaptail. In the early 70's, I made a surface bait called a Screamer that was a copy of a bass bait my Dad had, but bigger and with Buzz blades on both ends. I make my own spinnerbaits from the Violent Strike parts supply, and my own leaders too.

It is pretty satisfying to have a muskie take an offering that I built in my shop.

I've been making my own baits for a variety of gamefish for many years. Steve's right it is amazing to catch fish on baits you made.

The only thing better then catching a muskie is catching one on a bait you make. The only thing cooler then catching a muskie on a bait you made is having other people catch fish on the baits you make. Winter is long and so are most muskie fishermen's imaginations so go down to that shop, turn on the TV with muskie porn (muskie vidios) and tinker away!!!!!!!!

I caught my largest to date this year in July, 51.5", on one of my magnum spinnerbaits. Also had good sucess this year with the smaller ones that I make. This winter's project, an 11" jointed Jake type crank bait. I tinker alot, can't help myself.

Just what I need...another hobby!!!

but it does sound tempting........?

Biggest to-date for me is on a "hand made" by my brother-in-law. Only a 30"er but still on his handmade bait. Yes, I called him on my cell phone immediately!
