Pomme de Terre should be completely open by the end of the week. Only the backs of creeks and some launch ramps were frozen. The area is getting rain with temps in the mid 30's to 40's this week. Don't know anyone fishing it right now for muskies.

What MO lakes are near the Bass Pro Shops resort in SW Missouri? I am going there for da honeymoon(how I pulled that off, I will never know), and I get a free fishing pass for a while. Is there any worthy guides down that way?

Kly, will be fishing Hazel Creek in the Spring.I hear the best bite is late April to early May, however, I am sure you can get Muskies earlier. Eratic weather in March can be a problem. When are you guys going down?I have been trying to get down to this lake for two years, and haven,t been able to make it.I guess it can be a bear in high winds, because of being a trolling motor only lake.Luckily, I have a back, and front trolling motor, and should be able to get speed up to troll it, however, I think I had better bring back up charged batteries, just in case.

All the good lakes are within an hour or so of Springfield. What do you want to fish for? Muskies are in Pomme de Terre and Lake Springfield. Trout are in Tanycomo. Smallies, spots, largemouths, white bass and crappie are in Table Rock. Smallies and walleye are in Stockton. And Bull Shoals has everything, including some whopper walleyes.

Press Submit too quick...

I can turn you on to a great guide on upper Bull Shoals and Table Rock if you're interested in fishing there. Those lakes are less than an hour from Springfield.

Lets see, between pee wee wrestling, pee wee football, buddy building a new house, some work that I need to finish on my house, and my brother moving his house I will try and fit it in. I make no promises.

Joel,
You should look at Fellows lake. It's north of Springfield, MO.
It is only about 15 minutes from there. It is the water supply lake for the city. They have some funny regs. like dawn to dusk and 40 HP or less on the boats. You have to buy a yearly boat tag also. The lake is super super clear, with some awesome deep weedlines. I have only been there twice, but I will definately be back. Silver with blue back seemed to be the best color, till I broke the only 10" jake I had in that color.
