I was just sitting here at my desk wondering what drives anglers like ourselves to resist the change of seasons, and worse yet, the inevitability that musky fishing is coming to a close for this season.

It truly seems like only a month ago I was making my first drive north for the season. Seeing the early spring buds on the trees, watching as the lake weeds slowly emerged from the depths of my favorite lakes. Then along come the ducklings, ever watching mom to make sure that they keep the pace. Before you know it, the top water bite is on! Evenings with my wife fishing out on the lake. A warm breeze from the south brushes against our faces as we cross the lake in our boat. All planed out, running a comfortable 50 MPH, holding her hand as we reach the next bay in pursuit of the king of the fresh water predators. Her with her book, and myself plotting the exact location of my next cast. Taking my granddaughter out tubing with her best friend. Picnics by the lake!

Now I sit here, Nov. 12th, hoping and praying that I can get just one more trip out on the water. Denial? You bet!

Just 'patiently' waiting for my throttle cable to get in...
we rarely get ice til just before Christmas and our season never closes. Got at least a month of open water left. Denial will then give way to ice fishing! Either way, life is good.

Hello! Waxing philosophical there eh, MRG? I even started getting a little teary-eyed as I read on towards the end.

Nothing a little barley pop won't cure. Tonight sound good?

Later bud.

Try my double whammie on Mr. G-spot! My wife had a baby 5 weeks early last week and this is the prime fishing time for me! I'm currently plotting on how I will get a hall pass next weekend. Wish me luck!

Right now for me it's just getting out and putting fish in the boat. I am in the "numbers" mode right now, my little lake is still producing numbers. I wanted to get to 30 fish, Have 32 and now I want 40. 59 in the boat, want 70. Call it greed, I hope it keeps the ice melted.
