Location: Stevens Point, Wi. | Drove 60 miles to find all the landings iced over baaaad. Went for breakfast to think of a new plan. Called a friend who had a 12' boat, drove 15 miles to drop my boat off, transfered suckers out of the livewell to a cooler, drove to a tackle shop and bought an ice chisel, drove back to the north landing (least amount of ice). After 1/2 hour of chiseling, swearing, and just plain misery,I was only 25' from shore with another 50' to open water. Decided to give up, drove back and picked up my boat. Drove an old road downstream of the flowage damn til I found some open water along shore, pulled over, hooked up a sucker to a planner board, and got it out near the main channel. Life is good---not. Along comes an ice flow and takes my whole rig while I'm at the truck pouring some coffee. Hopefully next weekend will be better. |

Location: Stevens Point, WI | Sounds like quite the experience Jim, I would imagine all the lakes except a few of the big gin clear ones are like that. |

Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | And some folks say fishing is a lazy sport.... Looks like a break in the weather for a few days that might allow some of the more dedicated (crazy?) to fish open water again by mid-week. |
