I am in the market for a new pair of insulated bibs for fishing and Packer games late into January. Looking for some recommendations?

Thanks.

I have Eskimo ice fishing suit I use, I even fished 8 hours in the rain and was dry till we were sitting in measurable water then me and a striker suit next to me had water seep in between our legs. We were both super happy with the performance in 36* 40 mph winds and strait rain

Clam Ascent. Really flexible and comfortable, warm, and well made. And it will float you if you end up in the drink.

Usually when people wear insulated hunting close to lambeau it's in packer orange.

Striker Predator bibs. Lightweight, warm and flotation built in. The climate bibs in the above post are also nice bibs from Striker. They also have a hardwater series that is even warmer but in my opinion too heavy/thick. The predator and climate series are plenty warm as I've never been cold on the ice wearing these.

Years back that might have been true but today just about as much camo insulated bibs as blaze orange. Few years back my son borrowed mine for a late season game where the temps were low single digits and he said he fit right in.

You have been given a lot of real good options. A set I've been using the last 5 years or so have been the Frogg Toggs Pilot II Guide Bib. As of last year they also sell it with a "Puff" liner like jackets have had for years, it's called the Co-Pilot Insulated Liner. It is sold as one unit, but what I like about it is that you can snap out the liner for summer use, and then snap in the lightweight puff insulated liner for cold weather.

Thanks a lot folks for the input. I have always had good luck with Simms products, but the Insulated Challenger bibs have 100gram insulation and I wonder if that is enough for our conditions? I will do some research on the recs here.

Tight lines.

Same here....best investment I've made in awhile. No complaints at all.
But since I purchased GuideWear, alot of really good stuff has come out too. I like the idea of something with floatation if possible.

It just seems that my GuideWear bibs have shrunk a little around the mid-section. They seem tighter than they used to be. I'll have to talk to Cabelas.

OK, i'll say it.

You won't have a need for "late January Packer games" for the foreseeable future. lol

Absolutely can't go wrong with Simms Challenger. Warmest bibs I've found are neoprene, without a question. Pretty sure HappyHooker turned me on to cutting the boots off of a used pair then using with boots of your choice.

Don't think you should be worried about any Packer games in the cold weather

For some reason I can't edit my post, The Eskimo suit I wear has floatation built in. I would highly recommend that feature as all heavyweight gear will become very bulky in water and while getting out of the water

Not very fashionable for football games but just for fishing,,find a pair of used neoprene waders and cut the feet or boots off, you will never have anything more waterproof and also warm.

Striker Predator. As mentioned above it is a Float Suit.
Has vents, nice pockets, and adjustable leg cuff based on your height.

I'll vouch for the Striker Predator. I've washed my bibs at least 50 times and they're still in perfect shape after four seasons of heavy ice fishing. I just wore them at times up to Vermilion musky fishing in upper-40's temps, so they're useful on the boat too. I was wearing a light long-sleeve t-shirt on top, and making up for it with warm bibs. They're warm but not overwhelmingly so. I personally have no desire to sweat my balls off in bibs that feel like a sauna below the waist.

My dad has the Hardwater series, and they're way too warm and heavy, IMO. I would not recommend except for hunting. I just don't like the heavy fabric. It's what you'd expect from hunting gear meant for areas with acres of thorn bushes.

I also have the Guardian jacket. Kinda wished I'd saved the $100. I've about as heavy as a Predator jacket, but not nearly as warm. It also lacks the features of the higher end stuff.

My understanding is that the Climate is warmer still, but lighter than the Hardwater and about the same weight as the Predator. I think many people go with the Climate because of the supposedly awesome jacket, which can be broken down into two layers that can be worn separately or together to essentially mean getting three jackets, much like a Columbia parka. As far as I know, the bibs are one-piece, and I'm assuming they're very warm.

Try the Predator bibs.

I have the hardwater striker bibs and love them! I throw my comfy pants on then those bibs and I'm good to go all day. Fished in sum really cold rainy weather last fall and was perfectly good all day. Plus they are sweet in the winter, good hole hopping bibs!

After trying many combinations of underwear, mid wear, outer wear, insulated vs non, etc. over the years, my best suggestion is this:

The outer layer needs to do two things:

1. Be waterproof
2. Float

All the rest can be adjusted.

Hey, that floating might really help at the Packer Games once the beer gets flowing

I like to spend as much as possible on my wearable gear so I splurged on the Rebel 4189765 Ultimate all weather suit. It has GPS capabilities, can be linked to all my electronics and can be viewed on google glass so you don't even have to look at your electronics, is heated, air conditioned, and offers a solid gold internal urinal receptacle. The only drawback is you can be tracked by your wife's I-phone or android device which I found out via angry text when I was "fishing" at the club. New this year is green and yellow camo edition for $650!!! For a limited time receive a package of Johnsonville brats with purchase!!!
