What is the easiest/hardest to work with ?
Does walk the dog lures need to be different wood than Topraider type lures ?

| maple was a kind of game changer for wtd lures ,for sound and weight ,durability . for proptail baits ,the best lure makers like lee seems to love cedar . look at his chopper |

Where can I find some of that morning Wood ? Oops,... Todd should know

| Cedar and bass wood are the 2 best. Redwood is nice but hard to source and expensive. Gaboon ebony is the worst. wont float and $100+ a bf

be careful cedar dust is dangerous for your lung .some folks have allergic reactions to some cedars dust..if you itch you may not be tolerant. great wood for action cedar is. .its all we use other then molding baits. if you can source try white cedar. |

Being in Mn. I wonder what type of cedar it is ? How can I tell.
What about Buckthorn ? Those things are all over the place and need to go. I made a table leg out of this wood and it turned out really nice. |

| I've cleared a lot of buckthorn in my yard, and that stuff is hard. Also seems unaffected by weather. I have some in brush piles that has been there for five or six years, and it show no sign of weathering. |

The dust of any wood is dangerous: it is cangerogenic .
Always use masks with FFP3 filters

george is white cedar is also called spanish cedar ? ive seen one called spanish and it was easier to carve than the red |

| I am unsure. .the further east you go in Canada white cedar is more available. I have family in northern Ontario. we get white cedar from my brother inlaw. he has a small mill.... |

| You can get Eastern and Western Red Cedar. White Cedar and Yellow Cedar are softer and more aromatic than Reds. Seem the Yellow and White varieties grow up to Alaska. Spanish Cedar is Spanish Cedar. It's great for projects like humidors and once you get a whiff of it you'll know why. Never liked Basswood. It's too soft. It actually expands and contracts in different temps, so you better have a great sealer and a flexible clear coat. |
