Posts: 32958 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | I went up to Plum Lake and camped with Keith and his friend Scott Saturday T zoning. Keith get a doe, add one to the freezer. Sunday I worked on winterizing the Hideout, setting Sue's place in the new stand up for her, and getting the garage ready for many deer. For a day forecast for 5" of snow, it turned out absolutely beautiful. Should have been on the lake, but there are just so many hours in the day!
How did you do? | ||

Posts: 140 | My buddy and I fished from 8:00am till 2:00pm .... we caught 5 muskies. 42.5 - 42.5 - 40 - 35 ... and a little 27" fish that wanted to get into the game. All 5 fish were caught on the same VooDooTail spinnerbait. Luckily I have a partner that likes to share. After he caught a 42.5 & 40 he passed the bait to me. Edited by Thad 11/4/2003 8:22 AM

Posts: 135 Location: Elgin, IL | Fished Silver with Vman on Saturday. Fished it hard from 6 till 3:30 and got blanked. Fished it shallow, fished it deep, inside and outside weed edges... nothing. Said hey to Slamr (we were in Chris's Nitro) and sounded like it was slow for them too. Got the same report from everyone else we talked to that day as well. Had two low 30's fish follow right at the end and thought we were going to see some action... but still netted a goose egg. Tough day. Mark

Posts: 1996 Location: Pelican Lake/Three Lakes Chain | Just got over the worst weekend of my Muskie Fishing life. Over the weekend my boat lost 8 fish on sucker rigs. The fish were moving like crazy, but the only thing they would eat were suckers----AND I COULD NOT HOOK THEM!!!! If anyone can get a fish to pin up on a sucker let me know how you are doing it because I am snakebit like you would not believe. As a side note be careful with those flouro rigs--I had a monster cut the line on a hookset Sunday night. Steve--do you wanna guess where that fish was? It had a head as big as a shovel in about six foot of water in big stones--any guesses?

Posts: 5874 | Norm, Sorry to hear you lost a big fish. Musta been a bummer. Where did the line break/cut? Near the knot? What kind of knot are you tieing? Are you lubing it good before you cinch it down? What lb test is the flouro? What brand?

Posts: 1996 Location: Pelican Lake/Three Lakes Chain | The rig that was bit on me was a pretied Smitty 100# flouro leader. The line was sliced clean above the hook, I'm sure from dragging it across a razor sharp tooth or two. I am so frustrated with sucker rigs right now you would not believe it. The only thing I do know is that I will never use any type of mono line on them again. If the darn fish wouldn't eat suckers so often I wouldn't even consider using them because I hate them!!!!

Posts: 1137 Location: Holly, MI | Took a virgin out with all my gear on Saturday and gave him what I thought would be the best lure for the day, a 7 inch straight perch Terminator. Darn if he doesn't pop a beauty of a 48 incher in the first 20 minutes trolling. She swam away strong after a great fight so he can find her next year. His poor wallet, marrige, kids, etc. I think we have a new convert addict.

Posts: 3242 Location: Racine, Wi | I pounded the likes of Big Crawling Stone for the big one on Thursday Friday and Saturday to no avail. Once again humbled by the big clear abyss. I had one fish chasing a sucker on Thursday, missed a 40"er on a sucker on Friday, didn't see a fish on Saturday. I did mark a huuuugggeee school of whitefish, and checked them out with the underwater camera, but after soaking suckers in them, around them and over them, I came away empty. I did manage 2 bass and a northern on a triple D that I just picked up. That bait is gonna get a soaking in Okauchee the rest of this year. I didn't realize what I was missing.

Posts: 2691 Location: Pewaukee, Wisconsin | After work on Saturday I grabbed the boat and hit Pewaukee lake. Looked for fish in deep water first, found some bait with a few big marks. Set up with suckers and drifted through the bait fish. One hit and a miss then a fat 38 incher ate one of my suckers. Both hits were between 3pm and 4pm. Sunday I got out at the crack of noon, worked the same area with my partner Dan. First rip I gave to him, 1/2 way up she came off. Before he could get his rod set up again the fish ate one of the other suckers. I was happy to grab the next rod and score a nice 41 incher. When we picked up for the night I noticed one of the suckers was full of teeth marks, a muskie must have grabbed the sucker and chewed on it and spit it.
