| That and a short clip by spencer berman where they figure 8 and net a goliath in about 8 seconds are the two best muskie clips I have seen.

Location: Green Bay, WI | OK, so I've watched this clip about 10 times in the past day or so. Talk about your "musky-porn"! Anyway it got me thinking about something...
Justin's fish is immense. It is truly a tremendous specimen, and I'll be extremely lucky and blessed to get a chance at a fish like that in my life--because the largest one I've ever had in the boat was still at least 2-3" shorter than Justin's fish, and was caught trolling. But at the risk of dredging up old controversies, seeing Justin's fish really makes me appreciate the size of that fish that Bob Mehsikomer missed a few years back. Was it a "world record" musky? Who knows...define "world record". LOL. But if you see the head on the fish that Bob M lost, it looks immense--especially when you see the size of the head on Justin's fish, and then see the measurement right there on camera!
There is REALLY something special about these large fish. I can't explain it, and I can't really even understand it. But it is what it is I guess. I must know several hundred musky anglers and I bet I can count on one hand the number of anglers who wouldn't hesitate to give up all other fish during a season--only to catch a fish like Justin did.

Location: Green Bay, WI | Yeah, so for the record...I don't think that fish looked much different in size than Justin's did. When I posted above I recalled the head/mouth of Bob's fish looking larger than that, quite frankly. The thing IS a big fish, no doubt about it. But watching Justin's video again, it really isn't fair for me to compare that fish to Bob's fish--because the angle of view was never the same. We never really got to see a head-on shot of Justin's fish, whereas that's pretty much ALL we saw of Bob's fish. And conversely, we never really get to see the full (undisturbed) shot of the body of Bob's fish, where we had excellent footage of Justin's fish.
So the bottom line is that it's an apples-to-oranges comparison on my part, and therefore probably not a valid one to make. We'll simply never know how big Bob's fish was because he didn't catch it. So it shall remain size-less. But thank God Justin was wearing a Go-Pro camera when he caught that fat gal, so we can all marvel at how well the whole thing went down.
Anyway, thanks again to Justin for making that footage available and to Mike Keyes for putting it in the show. It looks like it was a very successful event with great camaraderie, and I'm sorry that I couldn't attend.

| Great fish Justin. A fisherman I met at AML fishes alone most of the time and he has attached arm brackets on his net to control it better with one hand. The type of bracket you see on crutches. I saw a demonstration and one handed control was amazing. |

| IMO the Leech Lake Spotties have big bodies but have a smaller duck shaped head. Canadian fish can have mammoth sized heads in comparison. |

| Nice to see what used to be a fantastic fishery. Too bad its not like that anymore. Politics, mismanagement and friendly fire have taken its toll. A lesson for all of us.

| its still a world class fishery. My personal best is at 44 inches caught in iowa. 2 years ago i caught a 36 on V that out weighed my 44 by a very good margin. Those big girls are still there/ |
