After slicing through literally hundreds of hooks, my knipex hook cutters failed me the other evening. I've had these things for 20-25 years, They owe me nothing. I will buy another pair today if need be. Just wondering if there is any chance they can be sharpened/salvaged?

You are probably better off just buying a new one. I've never heard of them being able to be re-sharpened. I'd say you got your money's worth out of them.

the Capri brand hook cutter you can get on Ebay is literally a Knipex knock off for about half the price, they cut hooks exactly like a Knipex.

Could just be the hook. Last night I tried cutting into some previously snipped hooks that were laying in the cup holder on my boat. The knipex seemed to cut through those just fine. The hook I was trying to cut on Sunday evening was the rear hook on a Big Mama Psycho Sister that was built before Big Mama was sold to Chaos Tackle. The Chaos Tackle web site says the rear hook is a 7/0 but that's it. Not sure what the tail hook on my Big Mama is but if I had to guess, I'd say Eagle Claw.
