Posts: 27 | Bought Lakewood blades translucent green. Made a double eight bucktail and after a day of use most of the green wore off both blades. Any suggestions on what to spray dip them in to prevent them from peeling?

Posts: 427 | I've used a Sharpie marker on blades. They produce a translucent color (except black) on the blades. Then I spray the blades with a good high gloss lacquer paint. Works great and an easy fix. You can use the blades with out the clear coat but the marker will wear off in time.

what's the brand of that high gloss lacquer paint ? some co got poor paint recipe., the problem is simple . now copper blades cost a lot more than nickel (kind of chromed ) so most guys arw painting over nickel but it don'T stick well if you don'T know how to proceed. the only guy that can do it like a pro don,t share lot'S of info

after more than 25 years of musky fishing ive seen near 1000 guys that have made the same claim. all of them quickly chipped, even more quicker once there is 2 on the shaft. your ''recipe '' is really basic.i badly expressed myself ,ive seen good blades from the major 3 major big companies like worth ,lakeland, hagens but other than them just one got my attention. im sure there is more somewhere but not a lot. all i know is you need a really powerful acid ,and and oven .ive got no idea of the paint used, and the clear

Posts: 416 Location: Madtown, WI | Powder coating is really the answer, really not too difficult but pretty expensive startup costs to get tools you need. If you want more info on how to diy, PM me. I could probably make a couple blades for you if needed. You could also just order blades from TI, pretty sure everything he has is powder coated but his 8's are "cupped".

did you dip or you got a electrostatic gun ?

Posts: 4053 Location: Land of the Musky | Tackle Industries uses teh metal etching paint. Not one complaint in the last 6 years since we started painting the blades this way... See link below and I also have builder prices for bulk orders. https://tackleindustries.com/product-category/musky-hooks-bucktail-s... AND unlike some other companies that are always out of stock.... We have about 10,000 blades in stock right now too. Some colors are low in stock but we have a ton in stock right now. Have a good week. James

i remember i was using musky machinery something like 10 years ago and the blades were really durable . i think it was powder coated one ,but im not sure at all. i don'T know for sure if it was powder because it was really thin and even finish. and personally i have never been able to do something that nice whit mine and my brush . but im far to be an artist hehe
