Location: Elgin, IL | Looking for help from any river rats out there. I've lived in Elgin, IL. for 8 years, about 5 minutes away from the Fox River... and I'm embarrassed to admit that I've never even wet a line in the river itself. I'm looking to get started though. I've got a pretty good assortment of tackle and gear, but other than purchasing a good pair of insulated waders, I'm pretty clueless about where to start and what techniques to use.
I've seen quite a few threads on river fishing in general, but not many specific to the Fox. Not soliciting for hotspots (unless you're feeling really generous!), just want someone to point me in the right direction as far as basics and presentations are concerned. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

See me at the next meeting. We can hook up and I can show you a couple spots. There's one not too far from your house that I frequent.
