Location: Hayward WI | If you're up for a little drive from Madison (45min?) you could go to the American Players Theater facility, https://americanplayers.org/events/calendar. For Thai, I like Ha Long Bay http://www.halongbaymadison.com/ Fine dining, there's alot up around the square. Not sure on your price range, but Le'etoille, Harvest, Heritage Tavern and Eno Vino are a couple. Also there's Fresco, a rooftop restaurant above the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art Wednesday nite there's free "Concerts on the Square" around the State Capitol, https://wisconsinchamberorchestra.org/performance-listing/category/c... Posts: 9 | There are many a brewery to hit up if you are into craft beer. Ha long is fantastic Thai food for the Midwest. Read reviews for restaurants on the square and pick what you like in your price range. There are rental kayaks and SUPs on lake wingra at wingra boats. The zoo is free. If you like hippies you can hang out around state street. Grab a Madison magazine while your in town and it will give you plenty of ideas.

Location: 31 | Thanks Erico, Kirk & Erick. We ended up making reservations at the Mendota Lake house, and are really looking forward to a dinner at Ha Long. We're probably going to hit up the free Wednesday night concert on the square, as well as the concert on the Terrace Thursday night, good advice that we will need a free ticket). We're also going to visit the Olbrich botanical garden, zoo, and maybe even one of the better craft beer places if I can talk to Mrs into it (she doesn't like beer). I like the hippie state street deal too.

Posts: 95 Location: MN | I've heard there is a mustard museum in the Madison area... That'd be on my list to check out. Also, The Old Fashioned is a nice little spot for a beer/drink and some food.

Location: 31 | This was our first little get away to Madison and my wife and I really had a good time! I thought that the town was laid out great with it's one-way streets, crosswalks and excellent parking. Special thanks to everyone who made their recommendations here, we will be going back with the balance of them in hand. Ha Long Bay certainly lived up to its billing, such a large menu and everything we had was super delicious… and very reasonably priced. The tour of the Capital, and Capital itself was nothing short of amazing… a must see. The concert on the square was classic Beatles and was surprisingly good, but kind of crowded for us… there's so much fun stuff to do just around capital square we had trouble choosing our next activity. For instance last night we had a solid meal and bottle of wine at Fresco, (tuna entrée as the appetizer) then sat down at the comedy club across the street by the old theater. For those near by who enjoy this type of entertainment… totally recommend catching James Davis while he's in town, he is one funny-funny guy! Otherwise, we were super impressed with the Olbrich botanical Gardens, lot's to see and enjoy. I was reading the donation plaques and was really surprised (and impressed) that the DNR had donated $100,000 to them at some point. However, the real surprise was seeing about a 34” muskie leisurely swimming under the bridge in the small river that runs through Olbrich. Attachments ---------------- ![]()
