| At the end of my rope on this one. My new to me 2001 ESOX Mag came with an 18 year old Pinpoint trolling motor, which I do not intend to use. It has six bolts attaching it to the boat, with a system that appears to be a more primitive version of the current MotorGuide "nut within the rubber tube" expansion system. Carefully tried to turn them out with a screwdriver, and nothing happened except they spin more freely, but clearly are not backing out. Thought about drilling them out, but of course since they are loose all they do is spin if you put a drill on them. Mounting bracket is still tight as a drum to the top of the boat deck.
Anyone have a solution for me to try?
Thanks in advance. |

Location: Ashland WI | I think you are going to have to remove the switch panel at the front of the boat so you can access the underside. |

| The panel is super small, you can get your hand inside but that is it. No way you get your arm in far enough to get at the nuts with a wrench. |

| Removing the switch panel is a good idea if there are nuts attached. I've had to do that on an older boat.
You might want to search the internet with "cant remove bolt on trolling motor" for other suggestions.
Best of luck. |

| Well, neighbor had a super de super corded drill, and I worked up in drill bit sized and eventually took the top of the bolts off and they dropped free. Could not get my grinder on them because they are set inside the bracket housing. What a chore this turned into! |
