I haven't bought any musky line in years. The last line I bought was Power-Pro 80 lb. I'm getting ready to spool a new reel and wondered if there was something better or should I just stick with the 80lb. PP? A buddy really likes the Suffix 832 in 80lb. Thoughts??

I used Power Pro about 8 years ago. I had some issues with it, so I tried Vicious. No issues with that line.
My wife loves that Suffix 832 stuff. Less spray from it. At least when it is new. No issues with that line either.

Switched from PP to the HI- seas grand slam braid in 80lb 4 years ago and never looked back. Just spooled up 5 reels with it this weekend.

I really like Tuff line or Suffix 832 in 80lb test either one works great and are a lot quieter than Power Pro.

I like Hi-Seas Grandslam Braid this will be my 8th season using it never had a failure.
Its the easiest that I have found for getting backlash's out also.

I switched from Power Pro to Viscous 8 years ago. I've had no problems with the line at all. It is now my line of choice.

I switched to Cortland masterbraid. Love it. I have it in black...didn’t like suffix, power pro, Daiwa j-braid. Cortland is expensive but I won’t be looking around for better braid anymore.

I am a sucker for tinkering and trying new products. I have always been a big fan of Courtland Masterbraid Bronzeback line and still use it. However I have also used and really liked Suffix 832 and Hi Seas Grand Slam. I don't know if you can go wrong with any of these lines. Maybe spool several reels with different line and find a personal preference based on the nuances of each line.. If you fish a lot it might be worth the time.

I went with Suffix 832 65 lb. As I said I've used Power Pro 80 lb. in the past (and still have my Shimano Calcutta 400 spooled with it) but I just bought a Revo Toro 50 and thought I'd try the 832 in 65 lb. instead of the 80. My local Gander didn't carry the Cortland for me to look at. I've used 832 on my bass reels and have been happy with it so here goes...… Thanks again to everyone for their replies! Randy

All my reels are spooled with 832 or Spiderwire Stealth, I like them both. The Hi Sea braid feels exceptionally smooth and I can’t wait to try that line too. I find that with all braid it performs best once “broken in”, usually after a day or two, depending on how hard you fish.

Another vote for Cortland Masterbraid. When I worked at the Musky Shop I tried them all. Keep coming back to Cortland for my personal use.

virtualy the same thing. it,s like if you would asked to strangers what kind of girls you should sleep with .p-line spectrex, sufix, spiderwire, fireline, tuffline. are all good, if you cast you better use min 100 pound, then if you backlash with a magdawg or a pounder you will got lot of chance to not loose your precious one. if you don,t care 40 pound is more than enough for these lazy queen

Like opinions, everybody's got one. After trial and error I pretty much use Sufix 832. However Sufix makes another braid that I don't like not as durable as the 832.
