Location: Rockford, IL USA | I just purchased a used but nice SC Legend Tournament Top and Tail Rod and was thinking of putting a low profile musky reel on it. In the past I've always used round baitcasters (Calcutta's and Cardiff's) but wanted to try something new. Are there any decent reels that are $ 200.00 or less? Brand doesn't matter just looking for a reliable reel and doesn't break the bank. |

Location: S.W. WI | Okuma Komodo is a good reel for around that price if you shop around. I have the 364 model, which is fast and holds a good amount of line for a smallish reel. Lots of drag, has held up quite well and I am hard on reels. I use for small bucks and topwaters.
The larger 463 is a nice bigger reel. They have models of each with power handle or double paddle, lefty or right hand too.
....As Curly says below, Toro S is also a good option, I have that one too. |

Location: Hayward, WI | Abu Revo Toro S 60 would be worth looking at too. I think with sales or certain sites have them under 200. I'm tempted to look into an Okuma Komodo also based on some good reviews. |

| Abu, Shimano, Okuma, Diawa, And the newer brand on the block, 13 fishing, all make quality low profile bait casters. Even bps has a 30 size reel well suited for muskies. Ur going to get a lot of opinions here. Good luck. Kdawg |

| I just bought 2. Lews superduty 300. It looks impressive. Much smaller footprint than I thought. The 2nd a used 300 curado e. That reel has such a following how could I resist a nice used one off this site for around $100? Hopefully I get to the mail before the wife these next few days! Daiwa lexa is nice but my hand hits the cast control on the left side. |

| I own a few reels that fit the bill of what you are looking for.
The Abu Maxtoro retails for $150. It is a decent reel, but in my opinion, not quite as "smooth" as the others.
The Abu Revo Toro S series can occasionally be found online for right around your $200 mark. I have the 60 series with a power handle. It is a nice reel as well. The 50 series has a paddle handle.
The Okuma Komodo 364 is also very nice and a bit smaller profile than the aforementioned Abu's. Mine also casts smaller, lighter lures very well.
My favorite is the Daiwa Lexa with the Winn grips. It is very smooth and the 300 size fits the hand perfectly. The 400 size is substantially larger in my opinion and is also about five ounces heavier. Both the 300 and 400 sizes can be found online for less than $200. Several gear ratios are available as well as a power handle.

Location: Waukee, IA | In the $200 price range I own both the Revo Toro S and Komodo SS 463. Both are great reels and I would recommend both. The Toro S is a little cheaper, the Komodo is built better. |
