As you know one of the hottest and most versitile glide baits out there is the Undertaker. Currently this product is made in one size which is about 8 inches in length.

Do you think there would be interest in a smaller version say 4-5 inches for spring fishing or on water where average baitfish size is smaller...?

Reason I am asking is that my friend Jim who makes these baits is getting a few requests from the BASS guys to make a smaller version and is wondering if the Muskie guys would also have interest in a new version Undertaker.

Thanks for your feedback...

The size that is out now, should be considered the small size(which it is a smaller bait)its (only 6.5") and a production 8.5" would be nice. That bait now is the perfect size spring bait now with 13 fish this spring on one bait alone! Lets get bigger if anything! The Underwaretaker

I used one this past week that was a oversized one. Steve came up with a glide bait that is just like it but bigger. I think it goes 8 inches. Very nice bait.

The smaller undertaker would be like a Spook but weighted to stay under the water. I think it would have a time and a place, great idea.

I agree with the underwaretaker....bigger would be better. I think it's perfect size for spring as it is.

I already catch lunker SMB and LMB bass on the regular undertaker....why go smaller for the bass guys. I believe the bait is 6" already. I would like to see a 8" or 9" version

I would definitely but a bigger one or five!!!!
if a smaller version came out I would also buy some of those. Pike, bass, and just about everything else like the 6 incher can't imagine fishing a smaller version for other species.

Jason, You answered your own question. The 'bass guys' or somewhat translated 'light tackle guys' would like a smaller version because of the weight it would shed.

I use a Zara Spook quite a bit, and catch everything from muskies to bass to pike to an occasional walleye. The Undertaker, if they can get the same performance out of a smaller bait, would be a great addition to my 5" class baits.

I would also like to see an 8" version, but that wasn't the question.

I agree with a use for a smaller one, but I would definetly buy bigger ones. How about a 10"?

A larger one that runs deeper would be really cool, I throw the Undertakers a lot and really like them.

I've used the bigger one. I like it. It's called a Wabull! hehehe Big ole heavy thing, that works just like an Undertaker, with a great roll to it. I may be missing the boat here, but I am not a small bait fan for ski's. Just stubborn, I guess.

bass sized for light tackle would be quite a seller. go 4 it. I love this bait!
I have a small Heddon brand torpedo style bait that works the top like a jackpot, it is about 3 inches long and really brings them up. m

Not much interest here for a smaller one, though I love my little Jerkos.  Make it 9" and a quicker sink as medic said, and I'm online!!!

I agree with most here. The current size is just fine for spring but I would snap up a larger one (8-10") in an instant.

I vote for bigger rather than smaller also. I know this was not the ? but the bass love the size now.

Another vote for a big one. I'd go 10"-12". If I wanted bass tackle I'd just buy bass baits. Lots of really nice small baits out there but not a lot of good ones that are really large.

I fish Bass as often as I do Muskies, and would like to see one that size as I said earlier. The idea isn't that a bass won't hit the Undertaker in it's current form, it is that bass anglers do not usually carry equipment with enough oomph to toss the thing.

My IM8 Bass rods and reels spooled with 50# superline would handle a 4 to 5" Undertaker really well.

Damn I wonder if my wife will go for the Undertaker is 8".....

As metioned by Shep and Extreme I make a lure with VERY similar action to the Undertaker but it is MUCH bigger and thicker.

The WaBull "Walking Bull" (Named after Sworrall & the artist formerly known as Beaver) is 8" x 1 1/2" and the Under Taker is 7" x 1" or so

I'd love to see a smaller undertaker... The Smallies already go nuts on it a smaller version would just create more chaos on the rocks!!

I'm in if they make it.

I had the privelage to fish the Wabull (was wondering where the name came from), very nice bait, like an undertaker/jerko, but in wood. I like wood, much more character and action than plastic.
I'd love to see a small Undertaker, seems there is a glut of 7-9" gliders, would love to see some smaller creations for early spring work over the new weeds, and during cold fronts.
Thats my vote.

I would like to see a smaller one and a larger one. Maybe a deeper version too. I notice with gliders the faster they sink the easier or more forgiving they are to work.

The Undertaker is a very nice bait and I would certainly purchase ANY new model that became available. Since we are putting a wish-list together... how about requesting a complete LINE of Undertakers?

5", 7", and 9" with the optional FAST or SLOW sink? That outta fulfill just about anyone's glide bait needs.

Here is a Wabull and an Undertaker. The smaller one I would wish for would be reduced at about the same ratio.

Hi,
I know these are not undertakers but these seem to envision what everyone is requesting, wether it be large or small. I think they are called automatics? Does anyone have any experience with the larger ones, do they run similar to an undertaker?

I've created a bait that runs like an undertaker that is 8" long. This bait will be marketed under the "Musky Nut Tackle" brand named "Wabull" and will be available starting at the Chicago Musky Show. I'm working with Todd Cleveland (Phantom guy) and he'll be doing all the painting and hardcoats. Steve Cady and I have been throwing the prototypes all summer and all I'll say right now is that it's a BIG fish lure. We'll have more info to come this fall, but look for them at the Chicago show.
