The Pike/Round Lake Chain in Park Falls hosted the Wisconsin Muskie Tour Invitational Championship on the weekend of September 27 and 28. The 65 teams that qualified for the event would land 26 legal muskies on the weekend. The anglers were competing for more than $40,000 in cash and prizes, and a $30,000 Ranger boat from Heckel's Eagle River Marina for the largest muskie, 50 inches or greater.

The tournament paid down 10 places:
1st- Darwin Ligman, Stevens Point and Duane Ligman, Plover
2nd- Brian Gorski, Tomahawk and Garth Mueller, Wausau
3rd- Jason Weik, Fifield and Ryan Miller, Minnetonka, MN
4th- Neil Barnett and Chris Pairolero, both of Presque Isle
5th- Scott Lewandowski, Athens and Dan Dassow, Medford
6th- Tom Meulemans, Greenleaf and Mark Van Rossum, DePere
7th- Rick Lapp, Iron River, MI and Dick Lapp, Land O'Lakes
8th- Jack Caskey, Phelps and Brian Beaman, Land O'Lakes
9th- Doug Steiner and Jim Rutkowski, both of Eagle River
10th- Tony Caraminidis, Conover and Phil Hahn, Three Lakes
