Who should I send my Calcutta to? I have a pretty beat up Calcutta that needs some major attention and would like to get upgrades.

I would contact Shimano and see if they can still work on it. I have taken my reel to a few different repair shops and they are smooth right away but it doesn't seem like they stay as smooth for as long as when I have sent them to Shimano. Price is usually the same, but you do pay a little more for shipping.

Or hook up with Propster on this site, he works on Shimano's and may have parts that Shimano no longer stocks

Not only does Mat do a great job, he is an authorized Shimano warranty repair center, might help with parts. Been to his shop, he has a lot of parts for older reels. In fact that was how he started in the business, he enjoyed fixing antique reels for himself and it grew from there.

Thanks guys I sent the TE to Dave’s in IL. It was clean cosmetically but felt like it had sand in the bearings and possibly level wind. I hope they can fix it. It was a salt water reel I think. I’m in Pa. so the Delaware and the Hudson tidal water reels and outboards are common here. Time will tell. Hope to have it back by Xmas. Winter is big fish season here. We don’t get ice every year !
