Location: Hayward WI | Tranx 400 is close at 30" line retrieve per crank vs 32" with the ej, the 400 hg is 40"er crank.

Posts: 624 Location: S.W. WI | Okuama Komodo 300 is a good option, better line pick-up in a reel the same size as the Curado. That's why I switched. been pretty durable for 2 yrs now. Small Tranx would be a good option also.

Posts: 101 Location: illinois | Looking at the Komodo 364, any complaints about its performance? Going on a top-n-tail for top water and safety pin type spinnerbaits no larger than 2oz. I've had to many issues with the ej drag even with upgraded washers.

It’s perfect for this amazing reels and as far as the drag, it’s anon issues the EJ drag was very limited. Komodo is at 30lbs you won’t need that much but hey. Iv never understood why these reels haven’t caught on more, lack of marketing I guess but the are awesome.

Posts: 1084 Location: Aurora | Ditto regarding the Okuma Komodo 364 or 463/471 series. Remarkable casting reels, stainless main & pinion gears, and shaft, and the best feature, a non-disengaging level wind. Seeing them more and more in use on the water but rarely see them for sale. Good sign in my opinion. Just hope the price remains as it has.

Posts: 983 | bbmogul - 10/29/2018 9:54 PM I would recommend Daiwa Lexa-WN 300 hands down I agree can pick up for $150 34IPT on HS and 29IPT I believe on 6.3.1 Cant beat reel for the money and the size is great for palming. Love the Tranx 400 but its def bigger than the Lexa and twice the cost. Tranx 300 be great option but cost you $100 more than the Lexa

Posts: 676 Location: Wisconsin | I picked up a Lexa 300HD to replace a 300EJ as well. I love that reel, will probably get a 400 to add to the collection.
