Posts: 2061 Location: Belgium | I am disappointed in the new bulldawgs that I received. Not that they don't work (I'm glad that they really improved in quality) but muskie innovations doesn't advertise the lures the way the make them. All the colors had been sprayed on single-color bodies. The walleye was all gold glitter/brown plastic with a sprayed white belly, the silver/blue and silver/black ones were all clear plastic with silver flakes in them and a sprayed black and sprayed blue back, the perch one was all chartreuse with a sprayed black back. You can rub the spray paint off of the backs of the bulldawgs. They still advertise the colors as being half clear/glitter, half blue or black; half yellow, half black and half brown and half glitter gold. What gives?!?! Edited by divani 9/25/2003 1:46 AM

Location: Illinois-Indiana | WOW, when did they start doing that.:( All the dawgs I have are two colors and I have a sh!t load of them. One of the best things was leaving it out on top the deck and letting them fade a little. Divani, Did you order them from Brad? Edited by Musky Fever 9/25/2003 7:35 AM

Posts: 2089 | I noticed that this past weekend after my brother bought a few new ones at Rollie and Helens.I imagine this is a much more efficient and cheaper process. Still one of the best out there. Steve

Posts: 2061 Location: Belgium | we ordered them from R&H, I think or thorne's. I'm not sure. It bugs me a little to not get what I ordered. I haven't read about this anywhere. I don't doubt they will still catch fish like the others but it's not the same. Big marketing mistake not to tell the customers about this

Posts: 259 Location: Alexandria, MN | I just bought some new ones at Thornes a few days ago, still the "OLD" style with the colored rubber, no paint. Gonna have to start paying close attention and only buy in person. Makes it hard for those that don't have access to a retail shop.

I have done this with other lures because I was picky about colors and didn't want to internet order them to only get somthing close. They seemed happy to help me this way.

Posts: 938 Location: NeverNever Lake | I would give my left *#% for some original medium Dawgs with the sevenstrand wire in all white. If the new ones hit the water wrong the wire bends and gets knocked out of tune. Sometimes takes a few casts to get it back on track. On the positive side, I sprayed a couple superman colered ones with Colorburst and they look awesome.

Posts: 7 | I have been buying up the original medium walleye colored dawgs in the Vilas Co. area for the last two months. They also slightly modified the shape of the body and tail. Jon Jantzen

Posts: 124 Location: Rice Lake,WI | The molding process has changed and it does make a bit of a difference. The shallow dawgs are way touchy and have a tendency to roll out. By slightly arcing down the wire she will run a little better. The new ones are not the same animal but like anything thats good...gets changed. Iv'e been buying as many ol' school mediums in any and every color as they all will catch fish. There's a lot more color variations and combos than people think there are. Have'nt seen the spray painted ones though and don't have any that run or color peels off. JT EAT FISH TATTOO

| Hello, I'm new to muskie fishing and I've heard a lot of good things about these bull dawgs. I mainly fish a lake with smaller tigers in it. What size and color would you suggest? I hope I can find some of the older ones before all of you guys gobble them up! | |||

| Thank was my question too. I have only two, a 12" black w/ orange tail and a pounder that is a firetiger. With Bucher products, I would look for the product made in Eagle River, Wisc. not elsewhere. With the Bulldawgs, I assume they are still made in the same locale. Again, how do we tell old from new?? | |||

Posts: 938 Location: NeverNever Lake | Ralphie, Colorburst is marketed by Mistertwister and Chunk Paint works great also. http://www.spike-itbaits.com/. It's really easy to use and slowly fades out after a few months. It's more like a dye rather than paint, as it absorbs into the plastic. It took less than 30 seconds to spray that flo orange Mag Dawg and I did it out on the water.

Posts: 2061 Location: Belgium | Would something like dip 'n glo work to draw perch bars on the bulldawgs? I would like to make that sprayed perch look like a perch. Haven't seen any bulldawgs with stripes yet

Posts: 938 Location: NeverNever Lake | Divani, you want Chunk Paint. I turned a fire colored Dawg into firetiger with black Chunk Paint, looks great! It's like nail polish w/brush and all. I got a 39" this eve on that orange dawg in the above pic. What sucked is, as I was fighting it I grabbed my digital camera. It stuck its head out of the water with dawg in mouth and as I snapped this awesome pic,"no media card" appeared in the viewfinder. Yes, I left the card in my puter. Good thing it wasn't a monster or I would've had to wrap it in mummy tape.

Posts: 2061 Location: Belgium | LOL! I once pressed the rewind button on my camera when I took a pic of a "large" fish (well, to my standards at 11 years old anyway). Where can I get that paint?
