Posts: 32886 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | The mapping party was fun with free beer and pizza, well attended by the group up at Spring Bay Resort. Tomorrow is a fish-all-day, and it looks fishy with on and off rain forecast for most of the daylight hours. A few folks fished a little this afternoon, and at least one good one was contacted...and lost. This is the first multi-species event ever held at Spring Bay, and the prizes are very cool. Some folks will head home with prizes ranging from free trips to Spring Bay, new rods and reels, gift certificates, Suick Lures, Vexan lures and rods, Ozark long crappie rods, and more, worth as much as the outing costs or more! Stand by for daily reports from the water, seminar dock sides, and more. Attachments ---------------- IMG_4085.jpg (75KB - 334 downloads) IMG_4086.jpg (43KB - 338 downloads) | ||

Posts: 32886 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | Three muskies so far, nothing big. Biggest crappie is 14.25. A couple big walleyes with as many as 30 a trip boated up to mid twenties, some nice pike, and a ton of bass in the 2 to 4 pound range. Lots of fun so far, weather has been really nice. A cold front came in yesterday, and slowed the bite, but that should pick up again today. I had a mid-40s fish on for about a second, am going back after her a few times before we leave. The steak cookout is this afternoon after the dockside seminar ( the prizes this year from OFM, Spring Bay, SUick, and several folks attending the outing are outstanding!)covering muskies. Hopefully I can get everyone to get me some images of the fish from each boat. Posts: 32886 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | Around 45 total, I think. The steak fry was stellar as usual, with the best steaks one can hope for cooked by the good folks at Spring Bay Resort! Multi-species fishing was good yesterday, but the crappie bite was slow and muskies just lookin'. I'll have to check on who fished muskies last night, after the steak fry a lot of folks just hung out and had a good time. I know when we hit the water at 6 AM this morning, no one else had even moved in camp. We've given away 5 crappie rods (thanks to James at Vexan Crappie and Ozark), a Tooth Tamer 8.5' muskie rod, some $50 gift certificates from Cabela's and a large performance cooler (thanks to a couple VERY generous contributors), 30 Suick Lures, a selection of Vexan Wasp crappie and walleye lures, a selection of Berkley and Johnson products (again, thanks to a generous contribution) some hats, MuskieFIRST shirts, and more. Literally everyone attending a dockside each day won a nice door prize.
