Can someone educate me a bit on these? Mine are all still working but on a couple the rubber is starting to get pretty beat up. Thought I'd stop at the local dealer in Bemidji and pick up a couple. Not only did neither marine shop have them, but they only come in a set of 6 they said, and they get $120 for them.

Are plug wires plug wires, can I use auto plug wires? These things are only about 6" long, and are not gold plated or diamond studded as far as I can tell. Why so expensive? This is for a '95 Merc 150 xri 2 stroke.

I did just look it up to confirm, mercury only sells them as a set $113.90 MSRP. Sometimes available aftermarket, not in this case? not sure why. They do sell just replacement boots for your wires 85-63709A 1, if that is the only part your really needing.
