Does putting a split ring on the line tie screw up the action of these things? Putting the leader snap through the line tie seems to be a real pain in the ass for me.

Absolutely not. I split ring all my baits, as I don't use snaps, and I am still able to get my suicks to do that special wiggle that makes them so effective. With both the snap and the split ring there may be some effect, but I doubt it.

I would definitely use the split-ring, like you said, it's a pain when
changing. Try running direct to the bait via split-ring, your going to like it. One less thing to get mangled, pretty soon you will do this on every bait. Grabs less crap a.k.a. weeds, grass etc. Hope you never blow a snap on a fish but it does and will happen. Goodluck!
