Posts: 397 | Hi all, did a little topic search here and found a little bit of info. Looking at a boat with a 2006 150hp Suzuki 4 stroke. I have ran yamaha and like them, but this boat is a good deal. Seeing if anyone has had close to this year and size motor and how it ran? I have heard good things about them, just looking for actual people who may have run it? Thanks much

Posts: 512 | i have a 2007 90 four stroke and love it but do a search on them, theres one thing that can be/become an issue theres a plug in the motor where some have a temp sensor i believe and the ones without temp sensors they put a steel plug in to where the sensor would be. problem is its an aluminum block and the steel plug will react and corrode. i dont remember all the specifics, but online you can find info and a replacement plug if needed. i changed mine out, and there was a little corrosion started. probably should be a recall from Suzuki.. i think its 2008 models and older food for thought and something to look into. other than that possible issue, mine has been flawless.. knock on wood! Posts: 512 | actually i just looked, and i think the 150s are ok. its the 90, 115, 140s that have this plug. i'd still make sure to be safe..

Posts: 1413 | Had a 2003 70 hp on my Lund Pro V tiller, for about 8 years until I sold the boat. Terrific motor. Only two things I had to think about. The pee hole seemed pretty small, and would plug easily, had at check regularly that it was peeing, so I kept a stripped down twist tie wire to poke it clear. Also, ran so quiet, you had to be careful not to try to start it when it was already running!

Posts: 397 | Thanks everyone, i have heard great things from people about these motors, but didn't know anyone personally who had one. Only thing i have heard is finding a dealer if you need work done could be an issue. I'm really loving my Yamaha, but am willing to branch out seeing as the boat is what i want!!

Posts: 397 | One more question. The motor has 1000 hours on it, as far as services and such, does any one think that is an issue? Sounds like the motor was used for trolling quite a bit.

Location: Eastern Ontario | Figure out where your nearest dealer is and check him out. Drop in and get a feel for the place and people. If you can change oil and filter you may never need a dealer. As much as I love my Suzuki's I wouldn't be comfortable if I didn't have a dealer that I've dealt with for 30 years within reasonable distance.
