Posts: 7088 Location: Northwest Chicago Burbs | Been thinking of going to the Big Game Series from Garcia. I love my 6500C3s, but they just dont last that long, and I love my Morrum, but it doesnt give me the casting distance that I want. The Big Game is sort of my last resort before going away from Garcia....anyone have any experience with them? Looking at the 6500CL model.

Posts: 69 | Hiya, Big Games are great. Have several of them. But, Abu sort of revamped their product lines this year, and they aren't making the 6500 Big Game any more. A shame - it's a super reel. The rest of the series is good though. The 7000 has a 5.3:1 gear ratio which makes it great for small bucktails, but it can be too much work for big baits at times. The new reel in the series is a 7000 HSN, which is a 7000-sized frame, but 1/2 inch narrower, with 5.3:1 gears. I guess it's the replacement for the 6500 Big Game. I got my greasy mitts on one of the first ones off the production line and used it all summer. I really liked it for bucktails. Another friend of mine also had one and hated it because of the high gear ratio. To each their own I guess... RK

Posts: 938 Location: NeverNever Lake | I have a Big Game HCL 6500 w/6.3:1 gears and my partner uses the CL. The CL is a better reel as it has dual cast control and a bit stronger. He loves the CL and is getting a couple more. http://nctackle.com/abugabigga65.htm Not a bad price but have even seen them cheaper
