So I am shopping for a new boat. I want a boat that I can fish out of and take the family out to swim and pull a tube/wakeboard. I would want it to be comfortable to cast for muskies all day but still satisfy the wife’s swimming/water sports needs. I have been looking at fish and ski combos but they all seem to be more geared towards ski type layouts. I am sure I am not the only one who has been In This situation, any advice is appreciated.

Reata looks very nice but starting at 40k might b a little rich for my blood. Would like to buy new and spend around 30k or less.

Probably not real likely unless a crestliner/alumacraft 17.5' is the plan, a Skeeter fish and ski- solara 18.75' 150 sho comes in at 45k

I know you said new, but for your price range - actually less - you can get a very nice lightly used Reata or Skeeter. I did (Reata) and couldn't be happier: 150 hp 4-stroke with a 9.9 4-stroke kicker, Terrova, electronics all good.

Thanks guys will look into some used options. Thinking maybe a deep v might work too. Gonna go look at a couple used boats this weekend hopefully.

A buddy of mine has a Lund Crossover. He loves it for exactly what you deacribed. He's happy; wife and kids love it too.

I recently moved on from my 620 into a somewhat more family friendly rig but no where a fish and ski boat, the Skeeter WX series. I have an 09 WX2100 and had a WX1850 for a year prior that just wasn’t big enough. My 620 was amazing for the 8 years I owned it but with two kids it just didn’t quite fit the best anymore. The U shaped compartments in the back of my 620 took up so much space and when my little ones were in the back they were so close to the waters edge standing on the compartments. The Skeeter line has high sides in the back and two jump seats at the rear. Very convenient not having to have pedestal seats in the back. Yes you lose the rear storage but AJ was more than OK with the benefit of open design and jump seats. I looked quite extensively at the Ranger Reatas but there were a couple of things I couldn’t get over. Rod storage is absolutely horrible with even the 2050 having a 7’5” rod length limit. Also, on the year models I looked at the front casting deck was rather small for my liking. Skeeter makes a fish n ski but was too much ski for me.

I bought(ordered) a 2018 Alumacraft Competitor 175 WT with a Yamaha 115 SHO this year and am loving it. It is great to fish out of and can easily do all the family stuff. I have 2 kids (6&8) and a wife so I understand. If it's just you and your wife or a buddy you can flip the jump seats which were upgraded from past years(seats are alot bigger(nicer) down and have a big rear casting deck for fishing. It has the swim ladder so that will be a plus for easy on/off access into the water. My previous boat was a 2004 Crestliner Fishhawk 1750 SC so kind of similiar, but this one is just a lot nicer all around. They also make a model called the Edge but is geared less towards fishing. Just my 2 cents.
