Posts: 51 | Has anyone found a way to put a trim tilt as opposed to a trim only gauge on a Yamaha 150 4 stroke? Am told by a local service center that it only will take a trim gauge. Have had entire neck fused from c1 thru t2 and is tough to look back at motor and often not loud enough to hear change in trim tilt sound of motor. Any suggestions appreciated. ?Steve ? M PS Previously asked, year or so ago, about getting bow down on an Alumacraft Navigator 175 w/ 150 Yamaha. Didn't want to peen the hull so put in an outboard wedge and lower pitch prop. Solved a most of the problem. Thanks to all for your input.

Posts: 134 | You can adjust the gauge to show its full sweep at different points, I'm not sure what your after? We usually set the gauges to show full down on the trim to match full down on the gauge, fully up on the gauge is usually when it has come off the lower lift rams.

Posts: 51 | I am ideally looking to see when the motor is trimmed fully down to trimmed fully up and then also to when it is fully tilted up as well. The travel range thru both trimming and tilting. A friend just checked his Merc on a Ranger and it did the full range of both trim and tilt, another friend with a Merc on Crestliner said his did as well. Was told a Yamaha did only the trim, I think something about the sending unit. Thanks for any advise. M

Posts: 134 | Correct Yamaha only does tilt, as that is the only range the motor should be operated in that is all the gauge covers. It is in the sending unit, no matter what gauge you put with it. My only suggestion for full up, not sure why you would want to raise it that high regularly, would be to time it from when your gauge stops. (3seconds of raising it or 5 count etc.)

Posts: 51 | BBT Thank you. Will try the count. Don't need to know full up but would like to know about where it is for driving onto trailer and when tilting up (like in shallow water or pulling onto shore) to be sure I have a water stream from the "pee hole". Because entire neck is now fused have to turn body about 180 degrees to visually see motor position and "especially "pee hole'. This requires unlatching seat to allow turning , or partially standing up. thought it would be simpler to "see" motor height on gauge. Should just be happy to be on the water, slow down a lot, and get used to this. Finding out that this getting older is not for sissies. M
