| I have a hummingbird Helix, the transducer is mounted on the trolling motor up front.
When I turn the trolling motor on it will toogle between the correct depth IE 15ft and something like 75ft. Once I turn it off it will stay on the correct depth 15ft. I'm guessing I need to adjust my transducer? Any tips or suggestions?

Location: Madison, WI | Mine did the same thing. Call humminbird and they will send you a ring that you wrap the sonar cord from your trolling motor through as many times as you can and connect back to your unit. It will block all the interference. Completely solved my issue and they sent it to me for free. |

Location: MN | That is interference. Dan mentioned a ferrite ring, that can help. Also, make sure the power wires for the motor are away from the transducer cables. Lastly, make sure the small 3 amp fuse inside the control head of the motor is not blown. |

| I was thinking the angle of the transducer was changing, I'll have to check into this interference issue.

Location: MN | Also, make sure your fishfinder is wired to a different battery than your trolling motor. Some guys with 12V motors will try to wire in electronics to that same battery. That should not be done, for a number of reasons, including interference. |

| Thanks again everyone, thanks for the Hummingbird link cowboy. It sure would be easier if it was a simple transducer adjustment.
I have some ferrite clips I can install to the transducer cable. I'll try that and adjusting the cables for this weekend. Hopefully that does it. |

I'm thinking it might be due to my trolling motor being a 2004 and has a ground issue of some kind?
Whats odd is sometimes it goes away for ten twenty minutes then it will have the interference for a couple hrs. |

Are you running this unit off the US2, built in transducer? If so, did you check the fuse in the head of the motor?

| mtcook- no the transducer is mounted onto the trolling motor. It's a 2004 without US2.

| I had a problem with my Helix 7 last weekend, after updating the firmware which had reset everything to factory default. At one point it couldn't find the bottom in about 15 ft of water; I poked around and found that the Noise Filter was Off. Set it to Low, and it came immediately back to working right. |
