| I have always been a caster. This year one of my goals it to try trolling. I mainly musky fish in flowages and impoundments (Chip and Lake Du Bay). I will be picking up two trolling rods and reels along with a couple of baits.
Questions:
What is a decent budget priced trolling rod and reel? My budget is $200 for each rod/reel combo.
Would 80# PowerPro be a decent line?
If you could only have three baits for trolling the chip, what would they be?
Last what weight and length leader would you use?

| this rod https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jGicZkY7RTw&t=13s or the older tiger rod WITH THICK guides , or if you want a real custom rod ,around 160 usd that look awesome you can grab it http://tomcatrods.com/product/heavy-tomcat-custom-catfish-rod-custo...
plus a tekota lc600 or a daiwa sealine
32 inch leader is enough not less than 200 lbs and your line is ok but if you can go over 100 lbs you will save more lures from the rock,at least if you fish near the bottom if not your 80 lbs is enough |

Location: Northern Illinois | All you need to get is shimano TDR heavy rod, and okuma Coldwater. You will have a solid trolling setup for around $100-$120 bucks. 80lb power pro or suffix works just fine, if you are trolling in rocks make sure you get 7 strand coated wire leaders 4 feet long. Not alot of rock go with fluorocarbon 4feet long 140lb will be good. |

| i guess you use them for planer board not for the rods that are almost all submerged ? i ask the question because that's a 2 pieces rod.many guys have been cuts one 150 lbs fluoro myself included ,not about rocks, answer is inside their mouth.anyway bif cranks will not move a lot differently. |
