Has anyone tried the Yakima Mag Lip Lure for muskies? I'm wondering if the 4.5 or 5.0 could be trolled with musky equipment, or would the line and leader size over-power the lure?

Why not down size the line and leader somewhat to use the mag-lip? Is it always necessary to use the heaviest equipment possible? Maybe down size the rod and reel a little also. I don't know what you use, but perhaps it might be more fun and sporting to down size just a little if you're using real heavy gear....davemp

Usually, I use 80# Power Pro and 80# fluorocarbon leaders. I just was thinking about the line-counter reels. I don't have one set-up with lighter line and leader.

We use them for steelhead when "plugging" holes. They pound hard without planing out, but I have not played with the larger ones.
