Posts: 200 | What’s your favorite small bucktail? Trying to get a few, but don’t want to go crazy on buying lures. So just looking for advice on what are some must haves for small bucktails? Color wise I was thinking black with silver/Nickle blade, seems like a good all around color for most conditions. Any suggestions on other colors?

Posts: 624 Location: S.W. WI | I'd get a light colored natural(white), a bright one or two(Chartrues/blk- Orange/Gold), and a mostly black one for starters. Thats probably all you really need. Brand doesn't matter much. there's many out there.

Posts: 2322 Location: Chisholm, MN | The black one you are suggesting would do well anywhere. I like double showgirls, Juice Mini is good for throwing into the wind, and I also make my own to my own specs. In fact I modify over half my bucktails if I didn't make it in the first place. Try whites, blacks, greens, and you'll have it covered. The color is secondary to how the bait is built and performs for the conditions you are fishing. I'm very picky when it comes to the specs on a bucktail.

I'm very picky when it comes to the specs on a bucktail. You and me both. I have Gerry Carroll build my bucktails to my exact specs.. For off the shelf bucktails, i am satisfied eith Dadson Bullets/Lazers. As far as colors, nickel/black, gold/gold-black, gold/white, green/green-black, orange/black. All set.

Posts: 1084 Location: Aurora | Hard to argue with dickP's suggest above for colour. Here's a couple Ghosttail 800 series examples with double 7 indiana blades. Mix of tinsel & hair. Did well on these last year and they have tons of other colour combos. If yer plannin on hittin the MN expo, they'll be there so you can look at um up close if you prefer.
