Posts: 32884 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | I like a high speed reel (Revo Toro Rocket) for tossing soft plastics, easy to keep up and less need to rip with my arms. Not sure on the SC.

Posts: 242 | Oh no, I sense a can of worms being opened here. I'll try to get in my advice before the lions arrive. First, gear ratio is somewhat meaningless as Inches Per Turn (IPT) is more of the measure that you want. With big rubber you are just winding in slack between pulls/jerks. For my cadence, I like something in the 35 to 40 IPT range. You may have to find what you are comfortable with, but I would suggest at least something over 30 IPT for Big Rubber lures.

Lucky Craft Man nailed it. IPT will tell you the most about how well the reel will pick up slack. 35 to 40 IPT would be a good range for a dedicated rubber reel. Tucker

Posts: 333 Location: SE Wisc | Faster reels are ideal for line pick with pull baits but make sure you remember to slow down between pulls in cold water periods. I like to swap out reels in the fall to a revo winch, this slows me down without thinking about it after months of speedy retrieves.
