See tons of colors in skirts and blades for bucktails. Just curious when someone would use a white painted blade vs a florescent paint or metallic finish.

I use them in my Walleye patterned bucktails. It also provides high visibility in turbid waters.

White contrasts with nearly everything as it is the presence of all colors, and contrasts best on a sunny day when the sky appears deep blue to violet/purple from beneath the surface. Contrast against a cloudy sky is not as pronounced but still gets done.

I came across an old article Steve Heiting did a few years ago on color filtering in different waters. White was stated (and shown through a blue filter) to be a great color in clear water on darker days, whereas silver would be better on bright days due to flash...

Has me thinking I want a white bladed tail to try this year.

I have had some luck with a white bladed Boogerman buzz bait on stained water. But then, I have had similar activity on a black and red buzz bait from Klack. Who knows if the color made a difference or both just annoyed the fish enough for them to smack it.

White blades have been good in algae bloomed water for me. Most fish have white on them so a flash of white could be s sign of vulnerability to a fish.

Thanks for the replies! I was wondering about turbid water like in rivers. With all the floating material in the water, guess the white will always show.

Was just talking to a buddy about this. We have done well in clear and dirty water with white blades. Seem to work best when brighter out for me. Just ordered a few more-Team Rhino has some wicked Spanky's with white blades.

One white and one black blade does very well in a bunch of water conditions. One of my favorites.

Have caught some nice fish after dark on white blades during full moon also. Tried glow blades also but were not as effective as white.

White and nickel have been a number one producer when we fish big waters.

Done well on white on s really clear body of water I fish. Seem to shine there when bright and sunny. But then again I do well on orange there too. Muskies make my head hurt

What everybody here is needing is the famous Color-C-Lector. Jimmy Houston, Bill Dance and Roland Martin swear by it. They wouldn't be fibbing to us for endorsement money would they?

I've had luck on White/Chart before. Ironically, did best at night on that one.

White is just a good color for muskies in general. Figure out what colors work best on your lake but I'm betting white works good for anyone on just about any lake or river.

fishReed,

You certainly seem to have an opinion on everything...

There is this thing called contrast... mentioning something like color and calling someone out on it... that's laughable..

This was copied from another one of your responses.

What’s your favorite small bucktail? Trying to get a few, but don’t want to go crazy on buying lures. So just looking for advice on what are some must haves for small bucktails? Color wise I was thinking black with silver/Nickle blade, seems like a good all around color for most conditions. Any suggestions on other colors?

RED and yellow.....

Color c lector... hahahaha!!! And yet you mention color preference!! Hahaha!!!

Most of the Kramer Bros. Revolution tails come with white blades. The only thing I noticed is MUSKIE in my area love em!!! Cloudy, sunny early or late as long as it's wet I expect it to be eaten. That's the only reason that matters to me.

I have a few double 10's with white blades that I toyed around with on slow days just to throw something different when none of my go-to's were working. "hey, that thing actually looks pretty cool... Ooop, there's one!! GOT 'EM!!" Needless to say white blades now have a place in my rotation. My inclination is to throw them on cloudy days because of how they look to me from above - easy to see, which I like. But I've had the best luck with white on those days when you're praying for a cloud or two or a little bit of wind.
