As the days get longer and there are muskie related fishing shows popping up on the tellie, most of us are looking for something to do. I have a suggestion. Grab a bottle of clear finger nail polish and grab all of your solid lures and get to work repairing everything that you can find wrong. Cover every hook or tooth mark. Go over every bit of hook rash. You can even repair your painted bucktail blades. With wooden lures you are actually saving the lure itself. Water can get into any imperfection in the clear coat and cause the wood to swell and split. Go over every wooden lure and cover any cracks or holes or scuff marks. Even the paint jobs on plastic bodied lures can be ruined if water gets between the paint and the body. Stop paint from chipping by covering the bad spots. I've seen lures ruined by guys using them when the clear coat wasn't repaired. Keep a bottle of clear in the boat for instant touch ups, and use the boredom of winter and the extra time to go over every lure in your boxes. This is also the time to replace rusted or damaged split rings and hooks. It's time to pick up a lure and remember the good times that you have had. I know that you've heard it before, this is just a gentle reminder to save your paint jobs and the lures that you have invested in.

Beaver,

It is good to see you around a bit again!! Saw your post on Cass.... If there is a chance sometime this summer, there is always an open spot in my rig for you, just south of there in Walker area...

I too have been thinking of all the repairs to do and one thing I think many could do on their wonderful double 10's... Get some 5 minute epoxy and put a drop in the notch where the three hooks separate. This will keep the tinsel from wedging in.

I won't take credit for that... Bob Turgeon started doing that... Credit goes to him..

I’ve used a hot glue gun to put a drop in the wedge of trebles also.

That's a good idea! Kind of like closing the barn door after the horses get out in my case, though...
