Buddy is looking at purchasing a camera set up both for ice fishing and for use in open water recon work. He is looking at one of the higher end marcums or aqua views and isnt sure which side to lean to. Need to help him out with some information and figured I check hear to see if anyone has them and what opinions are.

I have a color marcum 825 I think is the model.. It is 5 yrs old and I know they have made quite a few advances...only thing I don't like is you really can't see much when it's sunny unless you throw a jacket over your head and the camera when trying to view it in the boat.. in a shack it is awesome tho...

I think the 825 was one of the models he was looking at. I know Aqua View just came out with a few new ones but I believe that those are just hitting the market....how deep where you able to realistically see anything given normal light conditions?

water clarity dependent... in some clear lakes, mid day, could see ~10 feet...

The new Aqua-Vu models are:

The new full sized cameras display and record in HD, and have an advanced camera system that gave us an additional 45 minutes to an hour viewing time after sunset than any other camera out there and are very daylight viewable with the best screen in the sunlight I have seen yet. They also will mount up in your boat, ice vehicle, or permanent shelter to a ram mount just like a sonar and are weather and waterproof.

I just finished test recording on the 10i using a by-through gaming recorder, and the video output is a gorgeous 1080 60fps.

The new Revolution series Micro models are very bright, very clear, and have a cool reel management system for the camera. I used a prototype last year and was really happy with the unit. We just got our new models at the Ice Show last Friday. The pro has it's own DVR and the standard model has video out for recording.

Any questions let me know. These were shot on Squirrel and Minocqua last year on the 700i HD Aqua-Vu. There's lots more at:
