Posts: 612 | Well they pulled the docks at my primary lake. Too hard to launch and load w/o docks. But last few weeks were good. Nothing gigantic, but a number of fish from 30" to 40" That recent cool snap really helped. I hate those floating sectional docks that are disassembled and yanked ever year by the state who makes a small fortune at the launch.

Posts: 688 Location: Already Gone | The End? Not to be a smartash....but I'm just getting started. Along with alot of other good guys who can't wait for this time of year. There are other lakes...other new waters to run. I just pushed my first trip a week ahead because of warm temps. ? I couldn't imagine putting the rig away at this point...it's just starting to be prime time. Glad to hear you had a good season though. Always next year. Glad to hear you had a good season though if that's the case. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VX4DJUr5oYg No other good musky-esox lakes for quite a ways. Just don't have that kind of time for overnights, etc.. Where I live most lakes are trout or bass or trout and bass lakes.

Posts: 612 | Nothing to do with waders. Even a mild wind blows the boat sideways while it’s beached on the concrete after you’ve unloaded or are waiting to load. To heavy too straighten out after that. (Now if it wasn't concrete?) Maybe in my younger – athletic days. I lov how those Germans bombed Pearl Harbor.

Maybe in my younger – athletic days. I lov how those Germans bombed Pearl Harbor. Seriously? I do it alone all the time with a long rope attached to the handle of the trailer winch. Dump her in w/boat tied off to trailer winch handle/crank. Pull her back, tie off to something stable, park the truck/trailer and come back to a boat (mines a 19' glass rig, not light) that's sideways b/c of the always present breeze. Hop in and use a paddle to punt out.... Coming in, drive to landing carefully and hop out, tie off to a little tree or whatever (looong 50' rope) back trailer in, hop in, punt out and drive on. Climb onto front bumper and jump forward and drive out. I'm 67 w/a crappy leg cuz of a military "accident" and new knee a few yrs ago. No excuses man, no excuse...;)

The chain I am on in Oneida County is iced over but I did see last Friday that Crescent Lake along Hwy 8 west of Rhinelander was open last Friday (docks are out and you would need traction sand if still open). I couldn't see all of it but what you could see from the road was open. Talked to a guy this morning that lives on a bay off Boom Lake and he said his bay was frozen but that the river channel still looked open. I would call around on Weds. and see what is happening.

Location: Northern Wisconsin | I got a fat 38 on Saturday in N WI. Last fish of the year for me. Fishing a flowage with some current. It was completely iced over on Nov. 11 but opened back up. Water temps were 32.X.
