What are you throwing? I have moved good fish on 8" Jakes on the bis soup bowl with no takers. Are you still throwing bucktails in the weeds? Or you seeing fish on the rocks?

Posts: 2384 Location: On the X that marks the mucky spot | Out there this weekend. Friday moved 10, with 4 being between 45-49" and only 2 being under 40". Friday moved a low 40's and stuck a 42.5 before the lightning drove me off. Most of the fish were on the "Wabull" jerkbait we're prototyping.

Posts: 259 Location: Alexandria, MN | You could just hear the excitement in Billy's voice -- I bet he was shaking just telling the story. Thanks for the Release!!!! Sounds like he played it out for about 25 minutes on light tackle in shallow water. This lake is really starting to heat up, I have had multiple fish days on numerous outings over the past couple weeks. Quality fish too! DUCK: That's for the updates! Look for a White & Black Alumacraft TP195 with a 90Hp Honda Tiller -- If you see me say Hi! The best fishing is now until freeze up.

HI Going August 4-5-6 have not been there yet. what side of lake is doing the best. I do not need no secrects by west . East .South or North side of lake would help cut it down a bit. I usually fish the North side the most. and west side. thanks for what ever help I can get

Posts: 35 | Lund 1650, If your not fishing until monday I would say up at the north end. The muskies on the west, south and east will be sick of looking at lures after this weekends tournament. Good luck Dob

Posts: 536 Location: Brainerd Area | I agree. The south end is going to get pounded but there will be plenty of fishermen up on the north end to try to get away from the tourny anglers. I dont think its going to make that much diff if your going after the weekend. The hole lake will be fished pretty hard by then. Was out last night again with some clients. We got pushed off the lake by a storm at 6:00pm for a half hr or so and when we got back out one of the guys boated a 49 1/2 x 21 1/2 inch monster. Wow what a fat fish. Its fish like that that keep me going back. Happy Hunting Duck

Is there anyone willing to give a prediction on the fishing on Mille Lacs over the next few weeks? Sounds like things were cooking pretty good with a minor lull lately. Is late Aug & early Sept normally a hot time on Mille Lacs? How about the night bite on surface lures?....gotta be good now! Thanks, Todd W.

Posts: 633 | I am heading to the big pond tomorrow, and will be launching out of Wahkon Bay. I am going to be fishing for smallies with my 8 year old son, but I think I can get some muskie casting in also. Anything going on in Wahkon, or Isle Bay's? Thanks, Lance

Posts: 2384 Location: On the X that marks the mucky spot | I was out last weekend and it was tough. The water temps were from 76-79 deg! Fishing the north side, there wasn't anything going shallow. Everything was from the break out to 22'. The best presentation we found was taking a Waddes Wobbler or a Super Shad, crank it down and let it float to the surface. The fish would strike when the bait got within a couple inches of the surface. None in the boat but we had a half dozen chances and saw another half dozen. Also had a little action grinding spinnerbaits in the cabbage, but not from quality fish.

I will be spending 3 days starting next Fri. 22nd. This will be a first time trip for me to Mille Lacs. Hopefully we aleast get a look at a dandy. Maybe things will turn on next week!!!!!! Todd W.

Posts: 177 Location: Cohasset, MN | He guided for me and a buddy last month (8/29). The only thing they paid any attention to (3 hits and several follows) was a big blade silver/black bucktail on the North side.

Posts: 536 Location: Brainerd Area | the fish are going on hair and wood. use blk/slv, wht/slv hair and blk/wht wood. these seem to be the best producers at this time. as mr troop said, pretty good size blades are moving the most fish by slow rolling them over the cabage on the deep brake line. as for wood use slow moving reef hawgs or phantoms. we have been seeing a few fish on prop style topwater as well. good luck and let us know how you do. mr troop, have you found that secret guide site yet??? ha ha Happy Hunting Musky Nut Guide Service Duck
