Has anyone used the floating version of the head banger lures?
Do they run true or do they roll on the retrieve?

I have the suspending version. Doesn't roll, and very erratic and unpredictable.

Same with the floater. I've used both quite a bit this year.

I love the new shad , i think its much better then the tail
You can put on bigger hooks , i have tested it with 4/0 WMC 8650 and it works great .
The tail verision get tangel up much easier so many cast gets lost , that is very rare it happens on the shad

It might be your bigger hooks causing the problem. I've kept the original hooks and never had a problem on either the tail or the shad. I admit the hooks make me nervous, but until they're proven to be inadequate, I'm sticking with the originals. If I did change, I'm not sure I'd go much larger.

The small hooks make me nevous to , thats why i have been testing it with bigger hooks .
I Have tested WMC 8650 up to 4/0 and Mustad ultra point with short shanks and Mustad ultra point 3/0 is the one i think works best .

I went to a single larger hook and upped the split ring to a wolverine. I think I'm using a single VMC 5/0. I did not notice an impact to the action. Much bigger and I bet I will.
