Prob bait. That fish was so tight to shore... Could not have been in more than 2' of water. She ate out and came ripping in with gills flared and mouth open... I'll remember that image for the rest of my life... I knew I had my 50" the second I seen that.

Awesome picture, love the look of amazement by the little guy. Not sure if he's more amazed by the fish or his dad, either way he's not going to forget it either. Congrats.

This reminds me of one of the most exciting muskies I ever caught which came off a dock. I was about 18 years old and just getting into muskie fishing. I had caught two muskies in my young muskie career and I was taking my first week long muskie trip. I was to be going out with the muskie guide starting at 8 am, but I was too excited to wait and so I got up early and I was making long casts with a jackpot off the dock at about 6 am.

I truly did not expect to catch anything, really I was just too excited to sleep and killing time before it was time to go out with the guide. I would later learn that I was casting over a small cabbage bed. I was truly shocked with the fish hit. It felt BIG. My heart was beating out of my chest as I fought the fish and landed the 34 inch monster.

I would catch another 30 incher later that day with the guide, but that 34 incher off the dock turned out to be the biggest muskie I caught that whole week.

Since that time catching that muskie off the dock, I have always dreamed of one day catching a truly big muskie off a dock, and I always spend a little time casting from the dock anytime I go on a muskie trip. Maybe one day....

That is pretty sweet! Not only was it off YOUR dock, but your little rugger got to get in on the action too.

Sums up what fulfilling means: off your dock, with your kid, got that fish that you've seen before. Nice work!

Congratulations!! Ive got a little boy (8 months) at home now and I very much look forward to having him become as intrigued about fishing and particularly muskies as I was at a young age. Your experience with your boy is truly special and I'm very happy for you. Way to go, Dad!! That photo is a classic and will certainly be cherished by you and your family. That's what it is all about!

Really cool to get it right of the dock like that! Congrats on the PB! Catching a bigger one someday will be cool, but I am guessing that this will be very hard to beat from a memories standpoint.

I will cherish the day where I can walk down to my dock with a rod, 5 lures, pliers, knipex, net, and a beer in every pocket (old trick I learned from a buddies dad) and sit on my old arse and actually catch a muskie.

It don't get no better than that...

Four years ago we wanted a cabin. So we bought this lot it was solid bush, we cleared the bush, did the driveway and built the entire cabin... Just me and my dad. We live in Winnipeg so it's a pretty quick drive. Every weekend I get to go to Paradise. I a have 5.... 48" but never broken the "50" mark. To do it at the cabin we built specifically to be in musky county is pretty sweet

there has to be a jump ramp at the end of that dock, right? perfect for riding a bike down the hill fast and launching off the dock into the lake.
