Posts: 101 Location: Liberty, IN (OKI Tri-State) | Hey Folks, hope you are enjoying one heckuva memorable season my friends. This question has come up innumerable times over the years but nothing is static these days. I am hoping to get a chance to upgrade and repair my older Calcuttas as I bring the grandkids and others into the Musky Family. Not having 'deep pockets', I try to make things last and get the best I can afford.... stepping up to the plate for a few Tranx 400s ??????.... looking at PIMPING my 2 250 TEs, 400 and a couple 200s.... I have a pretty good Abu Guy local but am conflicted ??Nervous about sending my Babies.... soooo wanna hear what my savy Musky Peeps have to say..... THANKS! Bob Osborne NPAA #714

LOVE THESE TRANX. Outstanding piece of work from one HECKUVA Fine lineup.... tested and MUSKY CLAN APPROVED!

Posts: 8840 | Hey Bob You might consider tearing them down and cleaning them up yourself. If you're somewhat handy and pay attention to what you're doing, it's not very difficult. If you have several of the same reel, you can always open another one up to see how it's supposed to go back together if you get stuck.

Posts: 101 Location: Liberty, IN (OKI Tri-State) | Thanks EA... I have in the past but have seen a couple of folks posting about some real nice drag and gearing upgrades that have piqued my interest.... just saying... could... maybe, but bet that there is a savant out there that could Max It!

Posts: 1516 | see Pimp My Rod & Reel announcement at the top of tackle and equipment forum. Pike Master does a great job and the price seems good to me. I'm about to send him a 400te

Posts: 39 Location: Lawrenceburg,IN | pikemater went through and upgraded my Cal 400, working great. Just sent him two more reels . Cal 400 and St .Croix 300, I have all the confidence in the world they will come back better than new. Cheaper than buying new.

I bought 3 new 400TE's and couldn't figure out why I'd send in a new reel (fished each one season) for an "upgrade"???? I was convinced by another member here. BEST MOVE I've ever made, period. Richard does an outstanding job and I can really tell the diff. because I only sent in one the first time so I could compare. Fished that one mostly all next year and then sent in the other two later on! That should tell you something.
