I use PG and it works well. Have friends with the HG that wish they had the PG

oh boy, here we go again... if you want to reel them fast go with an HG and get a longer handle. If you want to reel them in easier, and not as fast get the PG... when it comes to speed, HG is the fastest reel out there.. not sure why we even have to have this stupid debate every other month...lol. I will put about 75 hrs on my HG next week burning 10s all day... suck it up Sallys!

exactly cut and dry you make the choice the HG will pull them no issue and the resistence isnt bad at all...just make the decision to me you can always reel slower can only reel so fast if I were to buy Tranx ID buy HG but I wouldnt ever buy so irrelevent..just my 2 cents and I think it more like every 2 weeks nelson getting lil old..lol

Sorry, I have never been involved with this debate. The search feature on the website does not work for me. I'm looking forward to the new and improved MuskieFIRST.

Haven't got one yet but the HG is on my list. If I'm spending $500 on a reel it better go fast.

HG all day long. I use this reel for all size blades.

HG for burning. PG for all else. The PG is so effortless. Pretty tough to slow roll big blades at night with the HG although you really don't need a tranx to do that.

Disclaimer, I do not have a power handle on the HG yet so the resistance keeps me from using it unless I need to reach speeds not attainable with the PG. Maybe that will change with the power handle.

HG, you can always take line off its spool to "slow" it down

Great Point!

I added a longer power handle and I have yet to test it out to see if that mechanical advantage really makes it significant easier to bring in blades or not with the HG.

I have both and at first I was TOTALLY against using my hg for larger blades cause to be honest it was harder, but in all reality it is much easier. I had to teach my self that I don't need to crank like a mad man with the hg to come in just a slow real brings them in fast and if want that extra fast burn towards the boat you have the speed if you want it. So as Bnelson said the HG is the choice I would go with. For most though they like the effortlessness of the PG. The HG is far more versatile reel than the pg. Now I mostly use the PG for slow rolling, topwater, and large cranks. The HG is for everything else.
