| Newer to muskie fishing, and this forum.
Quick question regarding trolling reels.
I have a Shimano Tekota 300 line counter that I had used for walleye fishing. Is this "heavy duty" enough for use pulling baits for muskie? I'll be getting different rods for sure, but wondering whether I should swap this reel?

Location: Sw Pennsylvania | I would think the reel would be fine to pull smaller baits. I think once you would get into the larger lures it could become a hassle cranking them in, just not enough power. I've got a couple 600s and they are one of my favorite trolling reels. The only downside would be the clickers are a little quiet. |

Location: Minnesota | 300 might work till fall when you start using 12" baits I like my 500 for 10" and smaller 600 for my bigger stuff |

| thanks for the responses. I'm just asking if there is anything in the larger sized models that are more durable than the smaller models. I can reel in bigger grandmas, jakes, and mattlocks with my 300 reel, but am I damaging it? Is there something I'm missing? |
