never, I always return 3-5 times a day on a spot that I know produces fish most of the times I go there.

4-8 hours? Only if I knew it held the only fish in the lake.

easy to do in my deer stand however.

I sometimes will sit on a spot, but I would rather work two. You cast one real good then troll it for 10-15 mins and move to the other one and do the same. Go back and forward all over those spots untill the fish show up. Naturaly that is because one of those spots is going to give up a big one and that is because I know this after some excessive time on the water and know that some spots give up big fish at certain time of day and moon phase and not other times. Sometimes I only catch a small one or two others none but most of the time I get the big girl and up to 5 fish in a short period of time.

Sometime it's just that sixed sense that makes me sit on a spot and others are because I saw a shovel head ( 54 incher ) and others is just because I only have 3 or 4 hours to fish so I spend them on prime spots.

Remember you must do this on a restaurant, not your tipical spot that will hold fish for days but ones that they come up eat and run.

I have done it for days not just hours. Fished a spot about 70 yards long for 2-3 days at a time. So 4 hours is girls play!!!

We fished a spot for the whole PMTT in Eagle River. The spot produced 21 lookers and 4 lost fish. We had our chances to win that event almost every coulpe of hours. That spot on a spot had fish comming and going. We never left that area once we got there. Heck Midge/Cady caught one in that area, it had to be good.
I could fish a spot all weekend if I knew it would produce. I agree with Mike Hulbert. I want to be there when they feed, not just fish through it and move on. Yes, I am a camper when I need to be.

About the only time i could see doing this is if you were on a fairly popular lake and knew that if you did not get on it well before dark, others would.

Not so much in the summer months but I will beat areas up pretty bad in the fall. I want to be on the key spots in the fall when the big girls strap on the feedbag, and motoring around just doesn't cut it.

I watched a gentleman during the last half day of a day and 1/2 tournament, cast to an open area in a thick weedbed no larger than an average sized living room. He and his partner would take turns casting, it was that small. Long story short, he caught a 42" with 30 minutes left and placed in the money. I spoke with him later and found out he had gotten a follow from the fish the day before, pounded the spot for 2 1/2 hours that day and 3 1/2 more hours the next day when she finally hit. Now that's patience!

I did it friday. Basically because every time we came across the spot we seemed to move more fish. Fished a 80yd stretch for 5 hours.

I did the same thing in Canada last year, fished about 150yds stretch over and over again for 3 days. Again, we kept moving fish so we just kept pounding it.

Personally it would depend on the size of the spot and fish seen. As I get older the more I can wait them out. But still I probally can only last a couple of hours without getting bored and anxious to hit another area. Al

I caught a 52 incher once by sitting on a spot from about 4 am to 2 pm where I knew a large fish was. I had about 4 follows before she actually hit and this was in mid September with little or no boat traffic. Do not know however if I could sit that long if there was a lot of boat traffic.

i've found heavy boat traffic is the spot to pound......

saved the day a few times putting 8 hours in at about a 100 yard area........the biggest trick is knowing the fish are there...then don't leave..........this took the 3rd place and only sunday fish of the wmt madison tourny this year....casting betwen boats as they passed by for hours and then getting right back on him the next day

the more you move the more you have to factor that a hungry fish is going to be on that spot at that time you are there...if you are already there, it's just a matter of that fish moving in.....hungry

i was always moving untill last year when i had the chance to watch the extreame one's pmtt partner pick away about a 100 yard area in a tourny and bust his hump up to 3rd place in the last hour......now i'm a firm believer that once you get a fish marked, it's just a matter of time.....pick pick pick...

look at it like trolling krispy kream till a cop shows up.....eventually it will happen............
