I oil the level wind worn gear Cover after every trip.
A drop of oil on each side of the level wind guide then pull off enough line where
Guide goes from one side to the other, then reel line back and call it good.

I think that's a typo. It's worm gear. If its worn gear, then it's too late for the oil, the damage is done.

I do mine more if I fish more like once a every couple of weeks if I am getting out a couple of times a week.

The question really is what has the reel been exposed to, and how often/hard is it fished. Do your reels ride on the deck? Do you keep your reels in reel covers to keep dust and road grime out of them? Do you fish in the rain? Do you keep the reels FULL of line? A spool with less line spins more times for the same distance cast and retrieved. Oil will be dissipated faster if you don't keep your reels full. There are too many variables that go into "how often" for me. I service my reels more than most, but I haven't had a reel failure in years. I see several that come into the shop that are destroyed from neglect. Rain tends to flush the oil from the bearings if you are in a heavy enough rain. Oil the bearings more often when fishing in wet conditions. I oil the levelwind every other trip with 2 drops of oil. I do a full breakdown of my reels after each of them has about 80 hours of use.
