For those living in WI, contact your state reps and let them know you support the new proposal from the DNR to limit manure spreading in certain counties, based on soil, etc. It is pretty thin soup compared to the last bill that Gov. Walker squashed but it is better than nothing. Focuses on the mega dairies and puts some reasonable constraints on when and where they cans spread manure, including limits on how close they can get to residential wells and to waterways. If you think this is not needed, read up on the "dead zone" the occurs on Green Bay during the summer.

The biggest polluter in the country has polluted and continues to pollute at a high rate. Agriculture. No one wants to touch the damage that industry does.

The former Republican congressmen from Green Bay, Reid Ribble held a press conference and made clear that agriculture was part of the problem for the dead zone in Green Bay. Nothing came of it WI. Walker is in the pocket of big ag.
Neither party is willing to tackle agriculture.

In WI, the Dems used to go after them on environmental while strongly supporting various financial supports but now with the GOP having such large majorities in both houses, the Dems really don't have any impact.
