Looking for a bait to work weed edges associated with timber and stumps with an up and down motion. Have tried twitching minowbaits and cranks but catch too many weeds. Is this the answer????

There's a reason it's been a mainstay since Noah cast weed edges from the Ark

For a tube with 3 trebles hanging off of it, suicks can be amazingly weedless. IMO the key is when you contact something, give it a little slack and let it back itself out before proceeding.

How many of you guys use the rubber band trick on the rear hook for better hooking or do you find that less weedless

I remove the rear hook and have never felt my numbers suffered because of it. Most fish come on the front or middle hook and the rear hook can catch an eye.

What's the best Suick to use, weighted or unweighted, wood or plastic?

Depends on where you are fishing. Slop, the unweighted in either wood or plastic, the wood is slightly more buoyant. Rocks, deep weeds with some room on top when you want a decent pause in the retrieve or to stay deeper, weighted.

Often imitated, never duplicated.

To add to the above - I've found it's a good bit easier to cast the plastic Swix in that they're a tad heavier as opposed to wooden baits in the 9" length. Makes a big difference in a breeze!

Also grab a couple - a few - or a bunch - in the 10" length as that helps with wind also. You simply can't toss too large a Suick...or work it the "wrong" way.

I've not fished weighted Suicks...maybe I should.

Un weighted suicks dive and rise super fast and are great around cover. But another great one is the phantom xorsist. I know you didn't really want a lipped minnow bait but not only does the phantom go down and come back up quick, it also darts out to the side. Depending on the type of cover and situation I could be great.
