Hey guys,

Im moving back to muskie territory and am getting some new set ups. Can you please give your input or advice if you see somthing that is unnecessary or needs changing before i pull the trigger on these. What would you guys do??

1) TB Predator 9'4" XH w/ toro beast hs- All rubber, double 10s-13s, big jerks and glides(called them today and this is what they said would work)

2) Big Nasty w/ Toro s 60- Double 10s and under, reg size rubber, Jerks, cranks, glides (Do all rod)

3) Sling Blade w/ Toro s 60- Double 8s and under, single blade bucks, Spinner baits, 6-8 in crank/jerks, TOP water, slow rolling at night (for lighter stuff)

One of my concerns is if i need all 3. Or if the pred and big nasty would be better, or Predator and sling blade. Im not really sure if there is that much difference in the rods to have all 3, but I would like 3 different set ups. Money is not in the question. I just want 3 solid set ups that can cover everything I need for now. Thanks guys. If you have questions just ask. Any suggestions are welcome.

Just an idea. I like at least one shorter rod (I have a 7'6") for wtd topwater and gliders.

I run 4 rods, three of mine are extremely close to those three. My fourth is a shorter jerkbait rod. You'll do great with those three

I would go with the new Tranx 400's and a Tranx 500 for speed/power reel for your big rubber/blade rod. I also second a 7'6"ish rod for WTD baits.

tranx 500 hg for sure for blades. nothing comes close to the casting ease and speed you can get w that reel.

What about the Saltist 30TH at 47.2" per turn with no disengaging level wind to cut down on yer cast length?

If i were in your spot i'd do these two for sure... 3rd combo for lighter stuff is up to you
predator + tranx 500hg - everything: 9's to 12 blades,
"the jerk" with beast HS - glides/wtd/jerks

Ok I bit the bullet and picked up a tranx 500 hg. Now what rod do I put it on. Beast hs on the pre xh for rubber, and tranx on the big nasty for blades, sling blade and toro 60 for smallwe blades, jerks, cranks, glides? What would you be throwing on those setuos?

Thanks for everyones input. I decided to cancel my order on the big nasty and instead pick up a LT The Jerk after doing a bunch more research (reading 100s of threads) and reading all of your comments. Seems like most people like a 7'6" for glides, jerks and wtd top water. And also looks like the Pred XH is extremely similar to the Big Nasty and can do whatever the Nasty can do. So my final line up should be:

9'4" Predator XH w/ Tranx HG - All Rubber, big blades, burning blades, big cranks

LT Sling Blade w/ Toro S 60 - Blades 8 and under, slow rolling 10s at night, cranks, top water, Spinner baits, some gliders

LT The Jerk w/ Toro Beast HS - All jerks, gliders, and WTD topwater

What do you all think? These 3 should cover everything ill throw? Thanks for anymore input

Any chance of swapping the Toro's with Calcutta's? Hard to beat that reel for quality and durability. I've heard good things about the Toro's, though. Good luck! I'm jelly you got a Tranx
