Posts: 735 Location: Apparently where the Muskie aren't | What's your guys favorite baits/size/color for crystal clear water? I want to pick about 5-6 new baits that would be good for clear water. So far my list consists of: All black supermodel All black bulldawg mag White bulldawg Cisco DCG Black perch shallow raider What do you guys think? I honestly don't even know where to start but those are what I was thinking (large and natural)

Posts: 141 Location: Maryland | Natural colors seem too work best. I usually throw sucker, perch & carp patterns since that is there main forage. But have caught them on firetiger in gin clear water. Dont be afraid too experiment

Posts: 1209 | In my gin clear lakes sometimes it is bright yellow/ fire tigers then some days it's natural colors. Size, just gotta try each each day. Today I got a 48" on a natural 12" bait. Moved 6 others and my dad lost a low 50"s on a small bright yellow/red.

if musky can bite at something unnatural like bulldawg or a boundy baits they will grab everything if it's feeding time, don't listen to bs like match the hatch or don't use firetiger in clear water.black orange tail dawg is one of the best colors for every water clarity so i ask to myself what kind of meal that thing is supposed to mimic ?

Good point. I guess a bulldawg could mimic a ling but if it's in a lake without ling and that fish has never seen a ling I guess it doesn't make a difference.

Posts: 1100 | Depends a lot on the lake, and situation, some of the lakes where i have the best luck with super bright and big baits, are super super clear lakes.

Posts: 105 Location: Jane Lew, WV | From what I have gathered with clear water is that I've done better in low-light situations with black or dark colored baits. Sometimes it's big, sometimes it's small, but it's almost always black.
